Off-White Zig Zag Chair in the Taste of Gerrit Thomas Rietveld, 1980s

Discover this lovely vintage Zig Zag chair dating from the 1980s, inspired by Gerrit Thomas Rietveld’s iconic Zig-Zag Chair, originally designed in 1934. Made from painted wood, the chair is defined by its radical geometric construction. Four flat planes form a continuous Z-shaped silhouette, eliminating conventional chair legs and creating an almost architectural composition. The sharply angled central support gives the piece a particularly sculptural presence while maintaining the visual simplicity associated with Rietveld’s original design. This 1980s interpretation is finished in an off-white tone, emphasizing the strong geometric character of the chair. The visible wear, surface marks and losses to the painted finish have developed naturally over time and contribute to its distinctive vintage character. The designer and manufacturer remain unknown, making this an intriguing interpretation of one of the most influential chair designs of the 20th century. Dimensions: H 73 x W 37.5 x D 46 x SH 43 cm
