Mid-Century Art Deco Style Pewter Jewelry Box by GAB, Sweden, 1950

One-of-a-kind piece
  • EXCLUSIVE WORK
A refined expression of mid-century Scandinavian metalwork, this rectangular pewter (tenn) jewelry box illustrates the enduring influence of the Art Deco repertoire within Swedish craft. Executed by the historic Stockholm atelier Guldsmedsaktiebolaget (GAB), the vessel’s sleek architecture is neatly framed by subtly fluted corner columns. The lid opens to reveal its original, saturated purple velvet lining with integrated dividers, creating a striking material contrast between the cool luster of the exterior and the rich tactile warmth of the interior. Dated 1950 via its official Swedish year mark, this piece makes a distinguished desktop or vanity centerpiece. Condition: Very good vintage condition with light scratches, age-appropriate patina to the pewter and incredibly well-preserved interior velvet. Markings: Fully stamped with "GAB", "TENN", "SVENSK VARA", Swedish national control mark, and date code "Z8" (1950) to base. Length: 16.5 cm (6.5 in) Width: 13 cm (5.1 in) Height: 3.5 cm (1.4 in)
