FUU #3 - Contemporary Chair in Wood and Urushi Lacquer

FUU #3 is a one-of-a-kind chair handmade from Douglas fir and Japanese Mino paper, finished with traditional Japanese urushi techniques. Ki-urushi and Togidashi-jō Kuroroiro Urushi are used across the chair, with the lacquer bringing depth and variation to the timber while accentuating its raw character. The Mino paper is treated almost as a canvas, with urushi applied across its surface to create a layered, tactile field of colour and texture. The combination of timber, paper and lacquer brings together contrasting qualities of strength, delicacy and refinement, positioning the chair between functional furniture and sculpture. This piece is made to order. Limited Edition & Handmade Variation FUU is produced as a limited edition, with each chair individually handmade. Subtle variations in form, surface, colour and finish will occur between pieces as a result of the making process and the character of the materials. Each chair is therefore one-of-a-kind, with its own particular qualities and trace of its making. Urushi & Care Urushi is a natural material whose surface can subtly change over time. Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight may affect the colour and depth of the finish. This natural evolution is part of the character and beauty of urushi, allowing the surface to develop over time. Care: Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight.
