FUU #2 - Contemporary Chair in Wood and Urushi Lacquer

FUU #2 is a one-of-a-kind chair handmade from Douglas fir and incorporating Japanese Mino paper, finished with traditional Japanese urushi lacquer techniques. Kōrin-jō Tsūya Shuai Urushi creates a refined, lustrous finish, while Togidashi-jō Kuroroiro Urushi brings depth and variation to the surface, accentuating the raw character of the timber. The Mino paper introduces a contrasting material within the lacquered structure, bringing delicacy and texture alongside the strength of the wood. The chair sits between functional furniture and sculpture, combining familiar materials and traditional processes in a contemporary form. This piece is made to order. Limited Edition & Handmade Variation FUU is produced as a limited edition, with each chair individually handmade. Subtle variations in form, surface, colour and finish will occur between pieces as a result of the making process and the character of the materials. Each chair is therefore one-of-a-kind, with its own particular qualities and trace of its making. Urushi & Care Urushi is a natural material whose surface can subtly change over time. Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight may affect the colour and depth of the finish. This natural evolution is part of the character and beauty of urushi, allowing the surface to develop over time. Care: Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight.
