Standing at an imposing six feet, the Sarupa Lamp is a handcrafted statement lamp that translates the sacred symbolism of the Shivling into a contemporary sculptural form.
Each segment is individually hand-carved in teak wood and meticulously stacked, creating a rhythmic vertical composition. Two damru-inspired forms punctuate the sculpture, evoking the cosmic sound of creation and the primordial rhythm of Lord Shiva’s dance. At its crown, a brass-plate commonly found in Indian markets lends a subtle luminosity to the sculptural form.
Rooted in ancient Indian symbolism, the Sarupa Lamp brings together spirituality, craftsmanship and modern design, serving as both a source of light and an object of contemplation. The lamp in essence signifies presence of divinity through the way it holds the space where placed. It serves as a reminder to pause in our busy lives.
