Certificate of Authenticity

A Certificate of Authenticity (COA) is a document issued by a reputable source that confirms the genuineness of an artwork. Often, COAs are signed by the artist, but they can also be signed by the gallery representing the artist or the printmaker who collaborated on the piece. For works sold in the secondary market, COAs are frequently issued by authorized estates or foundations.

COAs usually contain the artist's name, the artwork's title, date, medium, and dimensions, and, whenever possible, an image of the piece.

Winged XII Winged XII is a unique, hand-built ceramic sculpture from the Winged series by Veronika Janovec. A hollow vessel body extends into cantilevered slabs. Some reach the ground as leg-like supports, others are held aloft, so the piece sits between grounded and airborne. The surface is dark and metallic, and the form is upright and structural, with a sense of movement even at rest. Process Built entirely by hand, without a wheel or mold. The body is coiled from a single hollow cylinder, with slabs attached and shaped by weight and gesture rather than a fixed plan. Cracks and marks from the making are left visible, as the trace of pressure, heat, and the material’s resistance during firing. Materials and firing Clay body: stoneware Surface: glaze developed to resemble metal - matt and shiny combined Firing: two Watertight: yes Details Dimensions: H 34 × W 31 × D 30 cm Year: 2025 Edition: Unique piece Signed: yes Photographed on a metal plinth with a base 25 x 25 cm. About this work Winged XII belongs to the key series of Winged, in which a grounded body lifts into wings or legs. It reads as a sculptural object first and a vessel second, and is best shown freestanding on a plinth, where its silhouette and negative space can be seen in the round. The metal-like glaze gives the surface weight and permanence. No two pieces in the series are alike, and none can be repeated.
