The thick bowl is framed by a broad rim in the shape of an irregular octagon with gently waved edges, giving it the look of a hand-shaped piece. The surface bears the marks of the mould: crackled grain, small irregularities, shades of green, ochre and deep brown. The darker underside rests on four felt pads and carries an engraved monogram. Beautiful patina of use: the brass has taken on matte reflections and lighter areas on the rim, with no dents or deformation. At 22.5 cm wide by 4 cm high, this catchall tray sits on a console, coffee table or entryway, for keys or loose change, or simply as a decorative bowl.
