EM collaborates with queries and fabricators to salvage stone remnants and designs each piece around hand-picked materials with the intention to preserve the stone’s found condition and express their raw beauty.

The stone fragments are complemented by pristine metal surfaces which create a soft contrast and continue the dialogue between nature and the human-made embedded in much of the studio’s work. For the 2024 collection, EM collaborated with American Soil and Stone, in Richmond, California. Damaso worked closely with the fabrication team and selected pieces of Winterset Limestone from Montana to create a series of outdoor pieces that showcase the as-found condition of the stone.

Smooth surfaces, split edges, fabrication marks, and traces of extraction can be seen in one single object expressing its unique character and revealing the process of domestication of a natural material.

The untamed natural block acts as a weighted base to a contrasting delicate metal surface that is mechanically attached to the stone accentuating its assembly and machine-made quality. Two opposites merging to create one simple composition.

Each piece seamlessly combines simplicity with an authentic expression of materials, creating a conceptual bridge between nature and our living spaces. The complete collection, which includes side tables, seating, coffee tables, and water features, is designed for both indoor and outdoor use.
