{"title":"Veronika Janovec","description":"Veronika Janovec is a Slovak artist working in ceramic sculpture based in Berlin. \n\nInformed by her background in architecture, her sculptural practice is concerned with symbolism, structure, proportion and repetition, as well as the ambiguities of material, character and time.\n\nAt the centre of her practice is a search for nature — observed, remembered and imagined — and for forms that seem to belong simultaneously to  the landscape and to the body. \n\nRecent projects include Temper at Forma Gallery (2026, Berlin) and the performance Gallop at Funkhaus Berlin (2026). Her work has been exhibited in Berlin, Düsseldorf, Cologne, Milan, Mexico City, and Montreal. She is represented by a gallery in Cologne. ","products":[{"product_id":"winged-xii-2025","title":"Winged XII (2025) Sculpture","description":"In Winged, cantilevered slabs extend outward from the concealed cavity — some reach the ground and become legs, others stay lifted, caught between falling and flight.\n\nHand-coiled clay vessel extended by cantilevered slabs — some reaching the ground to form leg-like supports, others held aloft, caught between grounded and airborne. It reads as a sculptural object first and a vessel second, and is best shown freestanding on a plinth, where its silhouette and negative space can be seen in the round. The metal-like glaze gives the surface weight and permanence. No two pieces in the series are alike, and none can be repeated.","brand":"Veronika Janovec","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":57297301668105,"sku":null,"price":3000.0,"currency_code":"EUR","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0671\/5290\/4457\/files\/ld9yhhrelhqahlguwsqt.jpg?v=1788169756"},{"product_id":"winged-ixx-2026-sculpture","title":"Winged IXX (2026) Sculpture","description":"In Winged, cantilevered slabs extend outward from the concealed cavity — some reach the ground and become legs, others stay lifted, caught between falling and flight.\n\nHand-coiled clay vessel extended by cantilevered slabs — some reaching the ground to form leg-like supports, others held aloft, caught between grounded and airborne. The surface is dark, with a rough, mineral texture and a lustrous sheen that shifts with the light. Fissures, ridges, and hollows run through the form, so it reads like a sea cliff or a weathered rock face.\n\nProcess\nBuilt entirely by hand, without a wheel or mold, using a blend of coiling and slab attachments. The edges are left  irregular, so the form keeps the record of how it was made. The sculpture was made during a performance, and thus it carries strong traces of process and movement.\n\n\nMaterials and firing\n\nClay body: stoneware\nSurface: unique glaze, combining matt and shiny areas\nFiring: 2 firings\nWatertight: yes\n\nDetails\n\nDimensions: H 40 × D 50 cm\nWeight: 15 kg\nYear: 2026\nEdition: Unique piece\nSigned: Yes\nPhotographed on a plinth with a 30 × 30 cm base (plinth not included)\n\nAbout this work\n\nGallop II comes from the performance Gallop, a two-hour live perfomance at Funkhaus Berlin, and is the central piece to emerge from it. Formally, it belongs to the Winged Vessels, a series in which the vessel is a grounded body and cantilevered slabs lift from it as wings. The glaze is made to read as metal, and the form carries the heat of the firing. It is a sculptural object rather than a functional vessel, best shown alone on a plinth, where the light moves across the glaze. Made through a performance, it cannot be repeated.","brand":"Veronika Janovec","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":67624031650182,"sku":null,"price":3500.0,"currency_code":"EUR","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0671\/5290\/4457\/files\/pni1z74fhmzldohend1n.jpg?v=1791978605"}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0671\/5290\/4457\/collections\/dnyrjg6shqaweuc291tb.jpg?v=1791987651","url":"https:\/\/oblist.mom\/collections\/veronika-janovec.oembed","provider":"The Oblist","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
